I was not convinced the public interest required a trial – two trials, in fact, for two people who had suffered the loss of a baby, even in circumstances where their actions must have contributed to the baby’s death. There was something wrong about the case and the manner in which it was conducted; there was something missing from the trial and the narrative that surrounded the broader picture of events.”
